Rejection

Dear Larry Keoler,

I am having trouble believing you truly love me. Just the other day I saw you throw a soda can on the ground and you just left it there. Just. Left. It. There. I took it as, "I say I love you but I'm really just using you." As of now, I am going to stop providing you with oxygen.

Sorry but no,
Earth

My Love

Dear Chik-fil-a sandwich,

You are my one true love in this world. Your delicious chicken on the inside, combined with two wonderful pickles and warm buns are to die for. Although you are delicious on your own, eating you with ranch dressing and buffalo sauce makes the occasion twice as great. If it were up to me, I would eat you three meals a day 365 days a year.

I'll be in the water when you get thirsty,
Cody

Macbeth: First Thoughts

So far, Macbeth has not been as bad as I thought it was going to be. For the most part, the language is simple enough to understand the meaning. Keeping a timeline and character list has also helped me follow the plot and not mix up characters. There were only a few parts I was confused as to what was happening, but Mr. Lunn explained them well enough so I could figure it out.

Canterbury Church

The church began in 597AD when St. Augustine established his seat in Canterbury. It gained its fame in 1170 when Archbishop Thomas Becket was murdered in his own cathedral by King Henry II's knights. Since then, it has attracted thousands of pilgrims as told in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. It is still standing today and it is one of the most famous cathedrals in the world.

My Writing Experiences

Writing and English in general has always been my worst subject in school by far. I am very much a math/science and technology person and because of this I have always struggled in English. Freshman year I did not have a very good vocabulary and I struggled with grammar and sentence structure as compared to now so my papers always suffered. Now, however, my biggest issue with papers is having a set length to reach (like 3 pages) because it makes me want to put unnecessary sentences in to make the paper longer. For me, the most difficult part of writing is knowing when how much information/support is too much. When I create a body paragraph I want to put as much information in it as I can, but when it is finished I realize that there is a lot of unneeded support and it does not flow very well. This year I hope to improve even more on my issues with writing so I learn not to hate it as much as I do now.

Substitute "damn" every time you're inclined to write "very;" your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be. ~Mark Twain

My Hero

My hero has to be my grandpa. He passed away due to cancer several years ago but he fought in the second World War to protect our country. He was in the 601st Tank Destroyer Battalion and operated armored vehicles. On June 6, 1944 he stormed the beach at Normandy on a mission to liberate Paris and it was a success. He also fought in all three campaigns against Nazi Germany. One in Italy, one in Northern Africa, and obviously the one in Europe. He risked his life for our country and I can never thank him for that. Without him and his comrades, the majority of the world could be under Nazi control to this day.
